Barton Creek Vintage View
Barton Creek, Westlake, Austin, TX · 2025
About This Project
A 1972 Barton Creek residence reborn. Vintage character combined with contemporary luxury, anchored by a custom glass wine cellar, herringbone hardwood, and panoramic downtown Austin views. Game room, kitchen, dining, technology package, and full exterior renovation.
The Build Story
A 1972 house in Barton Creek with panoramic downtown views has earned the right not to be torn down. The brief was to keep the vintage soul, lose the vintage systems, and build the owners an entertaining level worthy of the skyline out the window.
The anchor is a full-glass wine cellar with brass-rail display, engineered to hold temperature through a Texas summer while sitting in the middle of the living space. Getting glass, cooling, and fifty-year-old structure to agree with each other took more coordination than any other element of the build, and it is the first thing every guest walks toward.
Around it: herringbone hardwoods, a rebuilt kitchen and dining room, a game room, a whole-home technology package that stays invisible until you ask for it, and a full exterior renovation. The 1972 character survived. Everything behind the walls is new.
